Fox Debuts 'Movie of the Day!' App With Daily Discounts on iTunes Movies @MacRumors.com

Looks like there is a new way to save on iTunes Movies, at least Fox movies.

...excerpt from MacRumors.com:
"Fox today debuted a new app called Movie of the Day! which aims to provide customers a new daily discount on one movie from Fox's large catalog.
Every day the app updates with a new movie deal, ranging from "from blockbusters to acclaimed indies, and everything in between," at a discount which goes up to 70 percent off of the original price. To start off, the app is available only for iOS devices, but there are plans to expand to other app stores like Google Play. In addition to the basic daily discount, the app also lets users browse a movie's cast, check out other user reviews, and read a quick synopsis of the film."
The 'Movie of the Day' app itself is a free download, any purchases are additional. The currently featured movie is X-Men: First Class [direct iTunes link]; normally priced at $14.99 it is currently available for $6.99...a savings of $8.00!

I downloaded the app and it looks pretty good, the sale price and normal price are plainly visible and the other features are easy to find and use. It looks like any sale prices will also be available directly on iTunes as well.

Movie Price Drop: "Banksy Does New York" $4.99 - 100% Tomatometer rating!

"Banksy Does New York" on iTunes w/100% Tomatometer rating!

Acclaimed director, Chris Moukarbel (HBO’s Me at the Zoo, SEX//NOW), latest film is a feature documentary about the renowned street artist Banksy’s self-proclaimed and citywide celebrated month long October 2013 residency in New York City.Banksy is revered and reviled, considered both a vandal and a genius. Completely anonymous, he is nevertheless without question one of the world’s best known living artists; having left his unmistakable mark and social messages everywhere from Los Angeles street corners to the walls of the Tate. Over the course of a month-long residency in New York, Banksy and his team took to the streets – secretly creating a variety of public work ranging from elaborate conceptual stunts to traditional graffiti art. Constructed under the dark of night, each new piece was then announced daily on his #BANKSYNY Instagram account and chronicled on his pop-up website. Constantly evading a citywide search by the NYPD, Banksy’s work created a public response that was an equal mix of reverence and derision, with some of the more controversial statements sending waves of reaction throughout the city.” From a Central Park stand where priceless original works were anonymously sold for $60 to a mural on the entrance to the Hustler strip club, to a junkyard in Willets Point, Queens; New York City served as the canvas for this street art vigilante.BANKSY DOES NEW YORK is an exhilarating survey and detailed documentation of Banksy’s city-wide exhibit and at the same time a vibrant portrait of the city itself. As in his other film projects, Moukarbel has employed his distinctive method of weaving his own footage together with crowd-sourced footage shot by those countless individuals that experienced Banksy’s work on the front line. In this way, the film will both document Banksy’s elaborate stunt and also take an unprecedented look at what it means to make public art in the information age. In the end, this residency garnered international attention and raised Banksy’s profile to an iconic stature. From ABC to Al Jazeera, no other public art project ever has received the same level of mainstream attention from the press. The most striking feature of Banksy’s time in NYC was the amount of social media coverage. Each day the public would rush to the newest location - armed with camera phones. These video recordings blasted the Internet in a grass-roots media blitz like no other cultural project in New York City. The film was produced by Jack Turner (HBO’s Emmy winning Which Way Home, Me @ the Zoo and Cold in July).

TV Price Drop: Red Dwarf, Series 1 only $6.99

"Red Dwarf, Series 1" on iTunes

On board the Jupiter mining ship Red Dwarf, Dave Lister ranks 169 out of 169, lower than the Skutters, the maintenance robots. His boss/room-mate is Arnold Rimmer, an obsessive, incompetent, nerdy smeghead who has failed his astro-navigation exam 16 times and sews name tags in his ship-issue condoms. They are in charge of the vending machines. Lister has recently been dumped by officer Kristine Kochanski but is still in love with her. By the end of the first episode, all the crew except Lister are dead from a radiation leak caused by a badly sealed Drive plate. The rest of the series takes place in the future, and it’s all downhill from here on. Aimlessly roaming the universe, this ramshackle crew of spacebums and losers encounters alien pods, mutated viruses, and distorted time. And if that doesn’t keep Lister amused, there is always the question of why Rimmer’s last words were "gazpacho soup."

Movie Price Drop: Let the Fire Burn only $5.99

"Let the Fire Burn" on iTunes w/98% Tomatometer rating!

In the astonishingly gripping Let the Fire Burn, director Jason Osder has crafted that rarest of cinematic objects: a found-footage film that unfurls with the tension of a great thriller. On May 13, 1985, a longtime feud between the city of Philadelphia and controversial radical urban group Move came to a deadly climax. By order of local authorities, police dropped military-grade explosives onto a Move-occupied rowhouse. TV cameras captured the conflagration that quickly escalated—and resulted in the tragic deaths of eleven people (including five children) and the destruction of 61 homes. It was only later discovered that authorities decided to “…let the fire burn.” Using only archival news coverage and interviews, first-time filmmaker Osder has brought to life one of the most tumultuous and largely forgotten clashes between government and citizens in modern American history.

Movie Price Drop: Particle Fever only $7.99 - 95% Tomatometer rating!

Imagine being able to watch as Edison turned on the first light bulb, or as Franklin received his first jolt of electricity. For the first time, a film gives audiences a front row seat to a significant and inspiring scientific breakthrough as it happens. Particle Fever follows six brilliant scientists during the launch of the Large Hadron Collider, marking the start-up of the biggest and most expensive experiment in the history of the planet, pushing the edge of human innovation. As they seek to unravel the mysteries of the universe, 10,000 scientists from over 100 countries joined forces in pursuit of a single goal: to recreate conditions that existed just moments after the Big Bang and find the Higgs boson, potentially explaining the origin of all matter. But our heroes confront an even bigger challenge: have we reached our limit in understanding why we exist? Directed by Mark Levinson, a physicist turned filmmaker, from the inspiration and initiative of producer David Kaplan and masterfully edited by Walter Murch (Apocalypse Now, The English Patient, The Godfather trilogy), Particle Fever is a celebration of discovery, revealing the very human stories behind this epic machine. Hailed by The New York Times as "Mind-blowing."
